Reuse of treated wastewater and septage at Wai

Wai, a city in Maharashtra, has successfully implemented scheduled desludging and has a faecal sludge treatment plant (FSTP) for safe treatment of the collected septage. With scheduled desludging, high volume of septage is collected every day. The Wai Municipal Council decided to explore the possibility of reuse of the treated septage. The city of Wai has identified interventions for reusing the treated wastewater and other byproducts from the FSTP. This document provides information on the reuse of treated wastewater and biochar in Wai.
