Equity assessment
CWAS conducted various studies for equity assessment in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Equity assessment survey recognise the significance of collecting information from supply-side i.e. service provider; as well as the demand side i.e. the households in urban slums. The assessment focus on purposive and adequate samples of slum settlements to achieve adequate outcomes. The designed surveys focus on various key indicators such as access and coverage, service levels and quality, cost and complaints redressal of basic services. The surveys conducted for the service provider also focused on policy, finance, connection process, mapping of all the slums and the detailed plan for each. Spatial assessment of slums is essential due to its unique existence that allows identification and monitoring of access and use of water and sanitation services in urban slums. The assessment also urges the need to collate data from various types of urban areas including large cities to small towns.
