Reuse Plan for treated wastewater and sludge at Kolhapur and Satara

In most cities, treated wastewater is discharged into natural water bodies. There is greater recognition now to reuse the treated water for non-domestic purposes. Also, the Government of Maharashtra's wastewater reuse policy (GR-2016/P.No.259/UD-33 ), suggests that treated wastewater and sludge should be reused efficiently. In this context, a study was undertaken to identify potential reuse options for treated wastewater and sludge in Kolhapur and Satara. Discussions with potential stakeholders (such as farmers, agricultural societies, nearby industries- MIDC, etc) were held for assessing the various reuse options.
