Opportunities for Private Sector Engagement in City Sanitation Planning in Wai, Sinnar and Ambajogai

June 2014

A study of potential private sector engagement was carried out to implement three innovative and scalable ideas for private sector engagement in implementing city sanitation plan for small cities in India. First was the citywide integrated faecal sludge management (IFSM), second was to make cities open defecation free (ODF) through use of grants and credit from private micro-lenders, SHGs and housing finance companies and third was development of Urban/City Sanitation Fund - to leverage new sources from CSR, social investors, and donors.
