Wai City Sanitation Plan
January 2015
Wai is a small city with a population of about 35,000. It is a pilgrim town nestled among the Western Ghats. It has low open defecation (OD) rates despite high usage of community toilets. The city is dependent on septic tanks as a mode of collection and treatment of waste. The CSP focused on provision of on-premise toilets to all and a PPP-based Integrated Faecal Sludge Management (IFSM).
