City Sanitation Assessment through Shit-Flow Diagram- Panchgani, Maharashtra

SFD ('Shit Flow Diagram') is a visualization tool that summarizes the sanitation service chain into an easy-to-understand diagram by showing the containment of excreta. Shit Flow diagram and a subsequent report were developed, using PAS data, for Panchgani, a hill station and municipal council in Satara district of Maharashtra state. In Panchgani, nearly 42% of faecal sludge is safely managed while 58% is unsafely managed, posing a serious risk to environment and health. The diagram was generated using an Excel-based SFD generator tool developed in-house at PAS.
