Potential Sources and Approaches for Financing FSM in India

Under the Swachh Bharat Mission -Urban (SBM-U), funds are allocated for toilet construction, but not for safe management of septage. SDG goal 6.2 refers to "safely managed sanitation". This suggests that funds will be needed for septage management as well. This study provides a preliminary assessment of financing requirement for FSM services in India and identifies potential sources. It explores various mechanisms that can be adopted by government and private entrepreneurs for financing FSM services.
