Ichalkaranji Municipal Council (IMC): Public Private Partnership and Eco-friendly Solid Waste Management System

Prior to 2007, IMC carried out interventions to provide maximum coverage of the solid waste management service across Ichalkaranji, a class 'A' town in Maharashtra. But the efforts were impeded due to inefficiencies in the system as well as lack of technology for treatment of waste. IMC opted for refurbishing the system itself which included adopting public-private-partnership and implementing advanced technology for treatment and recycling of the waste generated.
