Wai Swachhta Mahotsav 2022

Wai Municipal Council (WMC) with support of CWAS, CEPT University had organised a unique 3-day 'Swachhata Mahotsav' (an exposure event for the city's sanitation initiatives) at the FSTP resource center for all the citizens in February 2022. The aim of this Mahotsav was to share the key learnings and achievements from Wai's Fecal Sludge and Septage Management (FSSM) journey with its citizens as well as further involve them in the FSSM related activities. Over the 3 days, the Mahotsav received enthusiastic participation from different groups and stakeholders such as SHG members, students, teachers, community-based organizations, WMC staff members etc. Wai is one of the eight global cities to implement the 'Citywide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS)' program under which various initiatives related to gender inclusivity, safety of sanitation workers, municipal strengthening etc are being undertaken. The 'Swachhata Mahotsav' also provided a platform for WMC to showcase some of its key achievements under the CWIS program.
