Training Workshop on Gender Sensitization in Ichalkaranji, Karad and Vita
October 2024
CWAS, in partnership with CREA, organized workshops in Ichalkaranji, Karad, and Vita, Maharashtra, to promote gender sensitization at workplaces and raise awareness about occupational safety and dignity for sanitation workers. The training was conducted in two phases. In the first phase, heads of Departments (HoD) and employees were oriented on gender dynamics, intersectionality, and the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013. Based on the demand that emerged during this phase, a second phase was conducted exclusively for sanitation workers. In addition to the common sessions, the second phase included a special focus on occupational hazards specific to sanitation work. The workshops used interactive presentations, real-life examples, and group activities to engage participants. Key topics included gender roles, societal norms, the importance of inclusivity, and safety measures.
This report summarizes the key sessions, participant feedback, insights gained, and the roadmap for future initiatives.
