Workshop on Benchmarking of Urban Water Supply and Sanitation: Lessons from Maharashtra and International Experiences

The PAS Project facilitated a state-level workshop in February 2011 to share the results and experiences of performance assessment in Maharashtra. The workshop was led by the Chief Secretary, Government of Maharashtra (GoM). Participants included representatives of the State Government of Maharashtra, representatives from Municipal Corporations and Class 'A' municipal councils, and experts from the International Water Association (IWA). At this workshop, the Chief Secretary of the GoM asked the cities to focus on two areas of performance improvement: (a) 'Making Cities ODF'; and (b) 'Moving towards 24x7 Water Supply'. The PAS Project agreed to provide support to Class 'A' municipal councils for performance improvement planning on these two themes.
