Regional Policy Dialogue on bringing people & policy together towards inclusive circular economy transition in South Asia

CWAS in collaboration with a Nepal based not-for-profit organization, Intellectuals Center, prepared a policy guiding document and strategic campaigning guide on "Effective and Inclusive Citizens Participation towards Circular Economy Transition" under Strategic Collaborative Fund Programme Phase 2 (SCF2) of Stockholm Environment Institute SEI Asia Center. In this project, CWAS is one of the consortium partners with other two organizations from Bangladesh and Vietnam.
As part of this project, CWAS members participated in various sessions at the Regional Policy Dialogue, conducted in Nepal from 28-29th August 2023. This presentation from the event, gives a brief overview of government initiatives under the Swachh Bharat Mission with respect to circular economy in solid waste management and reflects on program implementation across the state of Maharashtra. Further, the presentation deep dives into the case of Karad city in Maharashtra with some key recommendations which can be scaled up by other South Asian Countries was also discussed.
